Tips for Purchasing Golf Clubs
These are some details about purchasing golf clubs that everyone should be sure to look at whether they are a beginner golfer or advanced.
Custom Clubs:
Purchasing custom built golf clubs will always be my #1 recommendation, but in the case that you are not in the market for a set of custom built clubs here are some helpful recommendations for you to follow.
Comfort:
You should always feel comfortable holding your golf club. This is very important. The golf club length and feel of the grip can have a lot of effect on your game play. The length of the shaft can be measured to match your specifications but must allow you to swing comfortably. The grip on your golf club is also very important. How the grip feels in your hand sounds like a miniscule detail but it is the only part you are in contact with the club. The level of comfort you feel in your grip can have serious effects on how you play your game. You must remember grips not only come in a multitude of different styles and feels but they also come in different sizes. You will always swing better with a more comfortable grip. Don’t overlook this seemlingly minute detail.
Shaft Fexibility:
A very large problem with buying golf clubs off the shelf is the flexibility of the shaft. Most shafts are to stiff for the golfer buying them. Be sure to test a few golf clubs with different flexibility to find what works best for you. Tying in with flexibility is whether or not you want a Steel or Graphite Shaft. Steel can be stiffer and absorbs less shock and vibration as Graphite so if you have any physical limitations while playing, experience pain or have a weaker or slower swing then you may definitely want to consider a more shock absorbent Graphite Shaft. Graphite is also lighter which can also affect the comfort level of holding and swinging the club.
Woods:
The most important thing to look at when purchasing a wood is the loft angle. You are better off buying a wood with more loft than less. The more loft it has the easier the trajectory angle become. More loft allows for more forgiveness returning longer air carry. More loft on your wood allows for a more forgiving miss hit as well.
Irons:
When purchasing an Iron you will definitely want to look at the lie angle. The lie angle must be measured to return useable results. The lie angle can have adverse effects when striking an iron. If it’s to flat it’ll come down toe first into the ground which will push the ball to the right as if the lie angle is to upright it will lead with the heal and pull the ball to the left. The lie angle should be right at the sole so you hit a straight shot as often as possible. This is very important to note when purchasing iron heads.
